One may think that it is useless and senseless to talk about the power of God because obviously His power is infinite in terms of breadth, height, depth and time. Meaning, he can change the time or delay the time or stop the time and man can never know it. The Power of God is over and above all purposes, will, intents, time, judgment, counsels and discretion of either man, or angels, or the devils. The devil knows the power of God, hence, his fear of God and he trembles.
Matthew 8:29 And,
behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus,
thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us
before the time?
What is surprising, however, is that power nowadays is greatly abhorred by most of the believers of God. This I would boldly say, largely by the Christians who carries with them the wrong doctrine which is the doctrine of men!
Most of these do not readily believe a preacher or an evangelist loaded with power who is raising a dead man and healing a sick or is there yet, anyway, an evangelist who raised the dead back to life? Well, if ever you have known a preacher raise the dead back to life consider for this is not an ordinary power. Know, however, that the power of God is always with the gospel to save people which is through perfection and holiness by sanctification in the spirit. The power of God is always with the word and the spirit which He will minister unto men.
What I would like to say is that any power-wielding-preacher is put to the test by his power and authority in the word of God. The true preacher is both a minister of the word and a minister of the spirit. Meaning, he is able to put the holy spirit to a man by the process of creation. A creation process which is making a man in the image of God who is holy and perfect.
So what I am telling is that one can easily discern and try the spirit of the preacher or the evangelist because of these two (2) properties in him: the power and the authority which is actually the Spirit residing in him. The Spirit is the power and the authority in the word. The Spirit will never dwell in an unclean vessel for He is holy saying, Know ye not that ye are the temple of God and God dwelleth in you? In another place God spoke by Joshua, saying, He is a holy God and he will not forgive your sins.
The above verses of which I am trying to expound means that God the Spirit is not a forgiving God which reason why the whole world of old was drowned. God needs to come in the flesh for him to forgive man of his sins or to send an intercessor whose spirit is of God.
Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
2 Samuel 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
2 Kings 13:5 (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.
Isaiah 19:20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
Nehemiah 9:27 Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.
Obadiah 1:21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.
This is actually the reason why God will need to send his saviour for men to have the forgiveness of their sins in the past and not the sins that we will do after we receive and believe him as our saviour because we need to be clean by mortifying the lust of the flesh and cleansing us from the filth of flesh and spirit so that he may dwell in us.
Where is now the true teaching such as this? Behold, the world has never heard the present truth but cleave unto a teaching which is not the gospel. The preachers nowadays make merchandise of you being turned into filthy lucre. They love your money and not your souls. They cannot teach the truth which says nothing about the profit in the flesh.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
The things concerning the flesh which is prosperity in the material is just an add-on saying, seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all his righteousness and then all things shall be added unto you. Where such kingdom comes neither by observation nor by meats and drinks because it is spiritually discerned. Yea, the Spirit will manifest in a man if that man has the Spirit which fruit is Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness and Temperance.
Now, the power of God is in creation which is to destroy the strongholds of evil and to build the holy. Creation is about the activities of the Spirit in destruction and building.
Most of the preachers today are no different from the foolish prophet of old named Balaam! They have the power to bless and to curse, they are able to talk with God, but they are greedy of gain.
Let me share a little secret. God is talking to everyone and even with the devil! We can glean this at the story of Job when God and Satan were talking with each other concerning Job. The point is that it is not really easy to discern a Man of God from the man of god (sic) for an untrained spiritual man. Note, spiritual man and not a natural man or a carnal man.
And so, to see someone healing and raising some dead people back to life is never enough as a proof of the Man of God. Neither is it a proof that a preacher is a Man of God if God were talking to him nor because he knows many things about the scriptures! The only proof is only by knowing the spirit that is in him which is manifested in its fruit. There is fruit of the flesh and there is a fruit of the spirit.
Better, yet, if you are able to discern and try every spirit whether they are of God, the best way. This can only be possible if a man has the Spirit first, hence, the need to have the Man of God whom God will send for our faith to grow in grace which grace is also a spirit from God.
Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Talking of growth in grace, therefore, there is a process which is actually on creation. Hence, there are babes in Christ and many of these are the so called Born Again Christians. However, these Born Again Christians will need to be Born in Water and in the Spirit for them to enter into the Kingdom of God and not only to see the Kingdom of God like Moses. To be born of Water and Spirit is to be moved by the Spirit of God himself or the Holy Ghost who is the bearer of the record in heaven and not by the Holy Spirit only who is the witness here on earth.
To continue discerning the Man of God from the man of god it is apparent that the power of God will fulfill the scriptures written, fulfill all righteousness, and fulfill all the will of God. The Devil only fulfills the scriptures written but the Man of God fulfills all righteousness, all the Will of God, and the scriptures written at the same time making his work perfect and holy.
John 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
Acts 1:16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
Matthew 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
Acts 13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
Furthermore, the power of God is against them who forsake him as he can give them a reprobate mind or give them unto Satan.
Ezra
8:22 For I was ashamed to
require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the
enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our
God is upon all them for good that seek him; but
his power and his wrath is against all them that
forsake him.
1 Timothy 1:20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may not learn to blaspheme.
Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Truly, this subject is infinite and what is just revealed is an eye opener, therefore, seek where the truth is and you shall know that it teaches of holiness and perfection. Hence, in the Book of Revelation John said, there is a perfect church which is the Church at Philadelphia. There are other churches which teaches about God but all these are not perfect. Seek that which is perfect.
In closing, be wary of people who are wolves in sheepskin for the deceivers abound in this world. Any religion or faith which teaches not of holiness and perfection and of the Spirit of God is never of God. Moreso, if it cannot make its people holy and perfect these rebuke silently.
One will never have a chance of trying and knowing the spirits whether they are of God for the evangelists and preachers who are false teachers and are liars are the ones filled with the word but not the Spirit. One is only able to try the spirits once he is exposed to the spiritual experience which a spiritual man must go through by the hand of God.
