PRAYING WITH THE UNDERSTANDING

Many preachers today are teaching the wrong knowledge on God, in short, they are projecting a wrong image of God which is a big lie unto their followers saying, God's answer to prayers are always 'yes' or 'wait'.

The truth, however, says otherwise.  This is the reason why many truth seekers are confused.  The teachings they preach is not actually happening on the people. There are just prayers that are not answered and the reason is not because God is telling them to wait for the answer.

In reality, however, many people feel that God is not hearing their prayers, and yet, these teachers would simply wrest onto their teachings to making one believe  that God has heard their prayers only that they should wait for the answer, they would insist, is yes.

For teaching lies, the fact still remains that people are never satisfied with such an explanation.  They find no peace with the god that they are introducing to people.

The truth is that prayers are either heard by God, or denied, or not at all. Prayers can become an abomination to God, prayers can become sin, and there are people who are not able to pray because of the hindrances , and so, there are really prayers that are not heard.  There is no such thing as all prayers made unto God are answered by 'yes' only.

To correct this teaching, let us look into the biblical examples comparing the spiritual things with the spiritual experience of old so that a man in this present life will understand the truth whether the words that he hear are biblically, true or not.

Lamentations 3:8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer
Lamentations 3:44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through

The above experience is of Jeremiah which reveals that there are really prayers not heard by God.  This is because of sin.  King David has this to say,

Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.

Lest anyone will say  that the God of the Old Testament is not the same as the God of the New Testament in terms of attitude let me, therefore, quote another proof that God is the same yesterday, today and for ever in the words of the apostle James.

James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

How in the world would such a lie proliferate among the so called Christians saying, that all of God's answer to a prayer is yes or wait?

As a matter of fact, king David will refute and king Solomon would affirm that such is a lie, saying, that prayers can even become sin and an abomination to God, respectively. In fact, God can be angry with a prayer made by a people.

Psalms 109:7  When he shall be judged let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
Psalms 80:4  O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

On the contrary, it must be known that there are individuals whose prayers are heard by God and these individuals are being guided by God on what to pray, yea, even led and directed by God in their supplications.  These are the intercessors, so called.

Jeremiah 11:14 Therefore pray not for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.

Expounding on the words of God, as laid on earlier, the voice of the people is not necessarily the voice of God as we see this from the experiences of Israel in the time of Moses when they asked for water and meat at the wilderness.  We also, see this in the time of the prophet Samuel when Israel asked for a king like the nations around them.  We can reflect on this on the people of Sodom and Gomorrah whose moral standards have degenerated to the level of Gods' wrath and fury.

Further, to correct the spiritual sight picture of things, that is, on prayer, it must be understood that God is a Spirit and his intent upon men is for them to be saved from this filthy and violent and corrupt world.  To do this man has to keep himself unspotted, and clean, without blemish, and without blame, and without wrinkle.

Now, prayer is a guide of any spiritual man on what to do for the day or with the time that is available to him in his life.
Jeremiah 31:9 they shall come out with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn

Praying for a thing that is not according to the will, purpose, intent, time, and judgment of God is in the words of Soloman a vanity and vexation of the spirit.

Yea, know that if there were people of old who died having not received the promise of God; how much less will petitions be granted comparing it to a promise on them who ask things for their own lust?  Know and understand this truth.

Now, know that the scriptures teach us what to pray.  Prayers are to be spiritual and not carnal for the material things are an add on matter to the spiritual agenda of God on man.  God said, seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then, all things shall be added unto you.   Moreover, the first commandment is telling us to love God with all our heart, with all our mind, with all our soul, and with all our might.  Additionally, he said, if a man would like to be perfect let him deny himself, and carry his cross, and follow me.

So perfection has nothing to do with a man regarding his own desires, will, intent, thoughts, works, and imagination of things.  Perfection is spiritual not carnal.

Therefore, prayers are meant for people to ask for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edification of the church.  There is nothing more effective as a prayer which is honed on the spiritual specifically on the will of God.

As an evidence to this let us go into the prayers of the people so as for man to know which is actually an effective prayer.

Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Mark 14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Acts 8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

2 Corinthians 8:4 Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

Philippians 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

Colossians 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

2 Thessalonians 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

All of the prayers of the people of God never reflected any material thing which would relate the things which most people ask today.  It should be no great wonder why there are many people who are deceived praying for things which have no connection with the spiritual things that please God at all.  Their mentors and teachers are not spiritual but are men whose desires are for money fooling the people around.

The greatest prayer of all is to ask for the Spirit of God and not on the material things.

Acts 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

It is clear that the world is going astray from the truth.  There is no one good who is leading men to aspire for the spiritual and ask the spirit for them to be able to sustain them in doing the work of God which end result is the salvation of man.

Romans 10:1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
